By role in the scene

Every piece in a bondage kit does one of three jobs. Knowing which job a piece does is the fastest way to understand what you are buying and what it adds to a scene.

Restraint pieces

The pieces that hold a partner in place: a collar with a pulling belt, wrist cuffs, ankle shackles, and a cross strap. Their job is secure but comfortable restraint, so they are cut generously and made from elastic PU leather that gives rather than digs in. A pulling-belt collar tightens to the neck and stays where you set it, and the adjustable straps let two partners of different sizes share the same set.

Sensation pieces

The pieces that deliver touch and impact: a paddle, a whip, and a tickler. They span a wide intensity range, from the light, teasing brush of a tickler to the firm strike of a paddle, so the giving partner can move up and down in intensity without changing kits. Each handheld piece is sized to sit comfortably in one hand.

Sensory-control pieces

The pieces that change what the wearer experiences: a blindfold that removes sight, a ball gag that limits speech, and nipple clamps that add a pinch of pressure. They heighten everything else by narrowing the senses, which is what gives a scene its tension. Because they land on the firmer end, they are usually the pieces to introduce last.

By material and hardware

What a kit is made from decides two things: how comfortable it feels during play, and how safely it holds. Both matter more than how the gear looks.

Breathable elastic PU leather

PU leather is a synthetic leather chosen here for how it feels against skin rather than how it looks. It is smooth, breathable, and highly elastic, so straps sit soft and give under pressure instead of cutting into the wrist or neck. It also needs no breaking in the way stiff genuine leather does, and its wear-resistance keeps the surface consistent through repeated use.

Reinforced, rust-resistant hardware

The metal clips, rings, and connectors that take the strain are thickened and reinforced, with a rust-resistant finish. In practice that means they will not bend, snap, or corrode under normal play, which is the difference between a restraint set you trust and one you keep checking mid-scene. It is a small detail on paper and a large one in use.

By intensity level

BDSM gear is not one fixed level of intensity. A complete kit spans a range, which is what lets you start gently and build up as you and your partner feel ready.

Gentle end: sensory and tease

The blindfold, tickler, and bondage rope sit at the soft end. They add atmosphere and anticipation without any pain or firm pressure, which makes them the natural place to start when either partner is new to restraint play. The rope, at over eleven metres, is long enough to work into wraps and ties without running short.

Firmer end: impact and control

The ball gag, nipple clamps, paddle, and whip land on the firmer side. They are for partners who already trust each other and have talked through boundaries. Before use

Start with the soft pieces and a clear agreement. Before a scene, sit down together and decide what you will try, and agree on a word or signal that means stop immediately. That conversation is the real first step, and it is what lets you both relax into the scene. Then check the fit: the collar closes with a pulling belt rather than a fixed ring, so it tightens to the neck and stays where you set it, and the cuffs and shackles wrap from elastic PU leather that gives just enough to hold without biting. You should be able to slide a finger between any strap and the skin. Lay out only the pieces you plan to use, and keep the firmer ones, the gag, clamps, paddle, and whip, to one side for now.

During use

Check in as you go. Restraint play works only when both partners can speak freely, so the giving partner should watch for any sign of discomfort and ease off or stop on the agreed signal. Keep the fit secure but comfortable: the elastic material gives under pressure, so a strap should never be so tight that it leaves deep marks or cuts circulation. Move between the soft and firm pieces at a pace that feels right, since the point of a complete kit is switching from the tickler to the paddle and back without changing gear. Cleaning and storage

Clean the two materials differently. The PU leather pieces wipe clean with a damp cloth and a mild toy cleaner, then air-dry; do not soak them, because leather can stiffen. The bondage rope should be gently hand-washed and left to air-dry completely before storing, since damp rope holds odour. The metal hardware is rust-resistant, but it still benefits from dry storage, so keep the set in a cool, dry place away from direct heat. Fold or coil the pieces neatly rather than cramming them, and store the kit together so nothing goes missing between sessions.
